In Kenya, the postal code points mail toward a particular Posta office. The P.O. Box number identifies the recipient’s box at that office. The two details work together.

How to create a Nairobi P.O. Box address

A P.O. Box application creates a postal collection point connected to a Posta office. It does not create a residential street address. Posta’s online service provides the current application route and the available office choices.

1. Open the official application Use the Posta Online Box Services portal and choose the new box application route.
2. Select the office Choose the county and Posta office where the box should be located. Use the directory above as a planning reference.
3. Complete the applicant details The live form may request personal, business, contact, identification, physical-address, and supporting-document information.
4. Review the payment and terms Charges, key deposits, renter categories, availability, and convenience fees can change. Confirm the current total in the official application before paying.
5. Save the confirmation Keep the assigned box number, office name, postal code, and confirmation details together. Use all of them when sharing the new address.

Avoid delays

Common Nairobi addressing mistakes

• Using 00100 for every Nairobi recipient, even when the recipient’s box is registered at another Posta office.
• Leaving out the P.O. Box number and writing only the postal code.
• Treating a postal code as a street address or delivery instruction.
• Selecting a branch because it is near your home without checking where the box is actually registered.
• Writing Nairobi when the official address belongs to Kiambu, Machakos, Kajiado, or another nearby county.
• Sending a courier to a P.O. Box without supplying a physical address and phone number.
• Changing the recipient’s office label, code, or box number because another website uses a different naming convention.
